H5P allows you to organise your activities into folders, share them with other collaborators or across multiple courses, and create backups of them.

How to create and use H5P folders

You can create folders in H5P to organise your content. Unlike in Panopto, course-level H5P folders are not automatically generated, meaning you will need to create folders to store each course's H5P content in.

To create a new folder, select 'New Folder' [1] in the H5P menu.

Folder naming conventions

It is strongly recommended that your course folder be named according to the course's code and name (i.e., "BIOL_1001 Human Biology 1"), and that subfolders be named according to the relevant curriculum module and topic's title (rather than just a module or week number).

Adherence to these naming conventions will help to ensure that your content is easily identifiable across teaching periods and for anyone involved in teaching.

How to share H5P content

H5P allows you to share your content with individual collaborators or with the entire institution via 'green folders' (more on these further on). For steps on how to share H5P content (including how to change an activity's publish status and owner), work through the presentation below.

More on institutional 'green folders'

Institutional content sharing is possible thanks to the college-level 'green folders'. Only AU H5P administrators can create and manage green folders, though content stored within them can be viewed and cloned (but not edited) by anyone with an AU H5P authoring account, for use across multiple courses.

At the moment, green folders existing for each college, but not for specific courses. Course-level green folders will be created by administrators once course locations within the AU organisational structure are known.

Using activities across multiple courses/teaching periods

If you want to use an H5P activity across multiple different courses and/or teaching periods, then you need to create a clone (copy) of the activity for each instance. Cloning activities for use across multiple courses prevents H5P from collating analytics data across those courses, and allows you to modify a single instance of an activity without impacting copies embedded in other courses.

How to create backups of H5P activities

H5P does not have version control of allow you to undo changes (aside from exiting out of the activity editor without saving). It is therefore recommended that you get in the habit of creating backups of your activities, especially complex ones, in case you accidentally break them. Recovering deleted activities
